Jzaquelle, a pregnant mother of two, faced homelessness, depression, financial hardship, and domestic violence. With just two days until eviction, she connected with Robbie, a Community Health Worker at Compassion Health Toledo. Together, they stopped the eviction and secured stable housing for Jzaquelle and her children.
Since moving into their new apartment, the family has received clothing, furniture, kitchen essentials—and a renewed sense of security. Community donations made their Christmas possible, and Jzaquelle now has a vital support network that includes her mother and the Compassion Health Toledo team.
“They check up on me - I can tell they care.”
- Jzaquelle
When Paulette began Caching Memories, she shared each story with care. Over time, the conversations grew into true friendship, and long-set-aside dreams resurfaced—including her wish to earn a college degree. With her volunteer’s steady encouragement, Paulette enrolled in classes and, in May 2024, proudly walked across the stage to receive an Associate of Arts in English at age 77.
“You told me to go back and finish, and I did! It’s a small degree, but giant to a woman who quit high school after the tenth grade. I finally get to wear a cap and gown. To me, that’s a big deal!”
- Paulette
Now, Paulette has reignited her love of writing and is working on a collection of 100+ poems. Her story shows that when people feel seen and heard, everything changes. Connection fuels purpose and well-being—turning simple conversations into stepping stones for growth.

When Lily joined the pilot GapQuest cohort in 2024, she was determined—but uncertain. A strong student with minimal family and financial support, she left an unstable home and was on the verge of homelessness.. College didn’t feel like the right next step—especially with the burden of debt looming.
GapQuest offered her a path forward. Through the program, Lily secured safe housing, earned income, explored a career in the trades, and built strong, supportive relationships. Today, she’s living with purpose and stability—and looking toward her future with confidence.
“GapQuest has helped me grow and learn things I didn’t even know that I didn’t know! After feeling so lost, I can freely say that I have found my home here.” - Lily
